Subject: Awareness of Autism
The purpose of this video is to get parents and relatives of small children to be aware of what autism is. It is important for parents to know the symptoms and signs of autism in order to intervene and help children with this type of disorder that affects a child’s brain and year by year affecting more children.
The difficulties I had while shooting this video were that I did not know how to get the video started since I couldn’t think of any clear ideas on how to reflect its purpose visually. After trying to remember some of the ideas I had thought about the previous day, I started to write down and brainstorm some of the thoughts I came up with. From that point I came up with different ways to make the video get its point across and the message I wanted to convey. To avoid losing time in trying to remember what I had thought before, next time I will write down the ideas that come to my mind as soon as possible to avoid forgetting about them later.
The video provides information, statistics and facts about autism; it tells how kids are affected by this type of disorder so that parents and relatives can have an idea about autism, a disorder which gets more frequent as years pass by and early intervention can make a huge different in the life of a child. The questions presented at the beginning of the video are to engage audience and give them a short insight of what a child with autism feels like and make a feeling of empathy to these children. This is done through the use of pictures of children that have autism, the music which sets a sad tone about it.
The most challenging part of the making of this video was trying to figure out how to set the mood for this announcement. Trying to figure out which music to use, and how to make the text, pictures and music correlate with one another to send out its main goal and purpose.
I think that altogether, the most effective parts of this video were the questions being asked at the beginning of the video, and the music being used throughout it because they were the elements used to put the audience in the shoes of children with autism. The questions make the audiences think for a minute what it would be like to live with autism, the music sets a sad mood towards it and a feeling of empathy also.
Being informed about what autism is and knowing the symptoms & signs can help diagnose a child with this disorder. Early intervention and therapies can help a child have positive outcomes in their life and can help overcome some of the obstacles that this disorder makes them face in life. The earlier a child is diagnosed with autism, the faster they can be helped and make a difference in their world.
